The hallmark properties of silicones – unusually low viscosity
at high molecular weight and very low interfacial tensions – characterize
Momentive’s basic fluids and help lead to benefits such as low-temperature
fluidity, excellent lubricity, high surface activity and remarkable
spreading or penetration.
Equally important is the stability of these properties. When subjected to
high or low temperatures, high pressures, or prolonged shearing action,
these fluids typically experience negligible changes in viscosity, thermal,
dielectric and other key properties, especially in comparison to other types
of fluids used in similar applications.
